IMTC Leadership and Service Awards 

Leadership Award The IMTC Leadership Award recognizes those individuals or companies who have made significant contributions to the multimedia industry, and are presented at its annual Spring Forum.  In addition, the IMTC presents its Service Award to individuals who have made notable contributions to the IMTC organization.

Leadership Award Considerations and Parameters

  • Award leadership in multi-media communications.
  • Recognize significant contribution by an individual or company. Recognizing both seen and unseen contributions.
  • Recognize the importance of creating and working within industry effort providing collaborative contributions to a product type, protocol profile, or service offering. This could be from work with standards, interoperability, integration, etc., but does not include work on any specific products.
  • Create an environment that allows for innovation to happen.

Leadership Award Criteria

  • Created, developed and released new business products in the area of multi-media communications - products or services.
  • Launched leading companies that created opportunity for other companies and/or individuals as a means of achieving success.
  • Companies, products and technologies created by these winners, laid the foundation for the evolution to the next generation of multi-media communication - products or services.
  • Their commitment to multi-media communications and industry collaboration set the model for accelerating the development and deployment of products or services through and with industry consortia activities.

2009 Leadership Award

  • Pierre-André Probst

    Pierre-André Probst

    The Leadership Award honored Pierre-André Probst, former Chairman of ITU-T Study Group 16 (SG16) and Executive Vice President of Swisscom, for his long and distinguished career in CCITT and ITU standardization. For over 30 years, Mr. Probst participated in standardization work as delegate, Rapporteur, Working Party and Study Group Chairman. During his ITU career, Mr. Probst was instrumental in the creation of SG16 reuniting the "conferencing" subjects dispersed in SG8, SG14, and SG15 into a single multimedia study group and he served as the first Chairman of ITU-T SG16 (Multimedia Systems, Services and Terminals) from 1997 to 2008.

    In parallel with his ITU-T participation, Pierre-André Probst led a very active professional life at Swisscom with a full range of responsibilities; starting as an Engineer, he retired a few years ago as Member of the Management Board and Executive Vice President for Corporate Operations. Mr. Probst holds a Master of Sciences in electrical engineering from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (ETHZ).
