Intellectual Property Rights Activity Group
IMTC member companies participate actively in the IMTC standard making
process to create standards that are compatible with, or that utilize
their technology protected by Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs).
As a result, any implementer of standards should have access to essential
IPRs.
What We Do
The IMTC IPR Activity Group’s charter is to:
- Shape and improve the IPR policy
- Provide a “Historical Archive” of old standards related documents,
to assist IMTC Members in IPR issues
- Provide IMTC input to the IPR policy discussions of standards bodies
- Formulate IPR requirements related to specific standards activities
(e.g. speech and video codecs)
Liaisons
The IMTC collaborates and has liaison relationships with several standards development organizations.
Learn about the liaison
activities this group is maintaining with external organizations.
How We Work Together
- E-mail correspondence
- Face to Face meetings as needed
Why Join?
If you need to know (eg. patent disputes) what prior art has been published
by Standards Groups on Multimedia and want to find out the results from
each standards meeting regarding those IPRs. And your organization, by
joining up with others, may better influence the IPR policies of relevant
standardization bodies.
News
The group completed scanning of the ITU-T LBC Group documents (1992-1997) containing the standards documentation leading to the ITU-T H.324, H.245, H.263 and G.723.1 specifications. The documentation and Historical Archives are stored by Polycom and available to all IMTC members in good standing. Learn more about obtaining access to the Historical Archives.
