Media Processing Activity Group
The Media Processing Activity Group works closely with the Standards
Development Organizations (SDOs) active in the area of Media Coding standards
including the ITU-T, ETSI, 3GPP, and the ISO/IEC JTC1 organizations. The
role of the activity group is standardization support. If the SDOs are
unable to deliver the required Media Coding Standards, the activity group
will define those standards.
What We Do
- Define the speech, audio, video and still picture coding requirements
for SDOs. These requirements are brought to the attention of the standards
bodies by liasons or by member's contributions.
- Promote reasonable licensing of SDO standard based Media Codecs by
acting as a moderator and by conducting meetings between users and patent
holders.
- Promote the finalized Media Coding standards.
