IMTC MPEG-DASH Webinar February 16th 2012

Adaptive streaming over HTTP has become the default dominant approach for video distribution.
At the moment, proprietary technologies have been deployed such as as Apple HTTP Live Streaming (HLS), Microsoft Smooth Streaming and Adobe Dynamic Streaming, and the industry has been eager to have a unified standard solution.

MPEG-DASH (Dynamic Adaptive Streaming over HTTP), now known as ISO/IEC 23009-1, has been ratified prior to the MPEG session held in Geneva last December. The standard enters now its maturation phase and naturally triggers IMTC attention as interoperability tests will be a key factor in this phase.

IMTC proposes a Webinar session in order to first introduce this new technology and how it will impact the video streaming area. And then present the PSS Activity Group and its plan for DASH tests in the coming months.
